AFL 2022 trade period LIVE updates: Day two

A very interesting development has arisen with retired Essendon star Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti contemplating a comeback, according to Bombers legend Matthew Lloyd.

But here’s the twist in the tale – Lloyd told AFL Trade Radio that Fremantle are leading the race for McDonald-Tipungwuti if the Bombers fan favorite decides to return to the AFL.

Essendon are also obviously keen to regain the brilliant small forward under new coach Brad Scott, but Lloyd said a change in environment over in WA could be the thing that sways him.

The Bombers desperately missed McDonald-Tipungwuti’s impact and pressure up forward this year, but will hopefully be able to address that when they recruit the Davey twins, Alwyn jnr and Jayden, in the draft under the father-son rule.

McDonald-Tipungwuti, who turns 30 in April, played 126 games and kicked 153 goals in his seven years at the Bombers.
