Making them beg! Cockatoo shows dogs who is boss as he feeds treats them in comic moment

  • The cockatoo, called Grace dangles a treat in front of her two pet siblings
  • Dogs Ace and Luna look up at Grace waiting for the moment she drops it
  • Owner Jillian Korisko, from Nebraska, says Grace likes to have all the power

This cockatoo knows exactly what it has to do to rule the roost.

In amusing footage shared online, the big white bird, called Grace, who lives in Omaha, Nebraska, dangles a treat in front of her two pet siblings, dogs Ace and Luna.

When eight-month-old pup Luna, a silver Weimaraner, stands up to get closer to the snack, Grace’s yellow crest raises, before she takes a nibble herself.

Grace builds suspense by holding on to the yellow biscuit, keeping the dogs at her mercy.

Ace, the black dog, takes a look behind him to owner Jillian Korisko, and moments later the bird drops the treat, and Luna dives in to eat it.

Ace, a crossbreed with schnauzer and dachshund in the mix, is left hungry and looks up at Grace to see if there are any more treats on the way.

Ms Korisko, who recorded the clip on April 16, says Grace enjoys teasing the dogs.

‘My bird Grace just likes to have all the power over the dogs and she knows food is the way to do that,’ she said.

‘She feeds them often and they eat whatever she throws.’

Cockatoos are part of the parrot family and are very social birds. They are also very domesticated, and can get along with other pets of various species.

The clip likens one taken in Queensland, Australia, earlier this month, when a sulphur-crested cockatoo was spotted on a balcony of a holiday resort inspecting a packet of cigarettes inquisitively by a tourist who filmed the encounter.

Footage of the odd yet hilarious incident was posted to social media back in April, 2019, but it was only this week that the clip resurfaced online. The cockatoo was dubbed ‘Philip Morris’ by one commenter because of his antics, after the cigarette manufacturing company.

The cockatoo is seen calmly sitting on the balcony and holding the open cigarette packet with its foot, when he begins pulling the cigarettes out one by one with its beak.
