We take seagulls for granted. Sometimes (well, often) they are the subject of ridicule. Intruders on our beach bags, burglars on our grills, and polluters on our sidewalks. But sometimes, to borrow a phrase from some family members, these “rats with wings” can assume their own majesty.

Maybe it’s just the winter misery, but we’d like to think that over the course of a single week, the crazy weather – blizzard, freezing, warm, rain, sleet, cold – causes other species to suffer from their own little bit of cabin fever. So when we saw seagulls get unusually wild on Saturday, we thought they were just trying to stretch their wings like everyone else.

For the video we shot some scenes in Ortley Beach and Normandy Beach.
