Pat Murphy was full of praise for the role assistant coach Joe Quinton played in reinvigorating his garden’s fortunes after Minella Hub only struck on his second start for the Welsh-winning coach National under Harry Banister.

The winner, bought from Adam West for just £4,500 in December, was available at 12-1 with some businesses overnight and scored on his chase and handicap debut at a much shorter starting price of 100- 30, ensuring Murphy doubled his seasonal tally of winners to four in the space of two days.

Murphy, who also hit with Galtee Mountain at Fontwell on Sunday and is enjoying his best season since 2009-10, explained: “I can’t take very little credit for it.

“Joe started with me when he was 15, he’s 36 now but he came back at the start of this season as an assistant trainer. It was Joe who went to sales and bought that horse and put set up the syndicate that owned him so it’s a hell of a day’s work to go out there and buy that horse for four thousand dollars.

“We have nine horses, whereas the last two years I’ve only had two or three. Joe came on this year and he brought fresh blood in terms of horse ownership, which is great.

“The goal might be that at the end of this year we would go for a joint license. Someone like Joe would have a really hard time getting a license on his own because of his funding, whereas I owns the property and I have my own horses.

“It’s great because I’m coming to 64 and suddenly Joe makes me feel like I’m 24 because he’s young and enthusiastic and enthusiastic and he takes you down that path as well.”

Jamie Moore had an unlucky start to his 37th birthday, with 2-1 favorite Emirati Dirham falling in the first 2m hurdle won by the Highclere property Coolnaugh Haze.

However, Moore and his father Gary did not leave their local track empty-handed as the promising Hecouldbetheone justified odds favoritism to make it two out of three over the hurdles in the 2m4½f novice obstacle, having only been beaten by the rules as by Nicky Henderson’s Ballymore frontman. hope to walk on air.

Henderson himself hit the map when a conditional Nathan Brennan rode a season-winning second aboard Scarpia, taking the Seven Barrows coach to an impressive 56% seasonal strike rate on the track.
