Nick Alexander: celebrated a five-timer at Ayr on Saturday
Nick Alexander enjoyed a memorable day at Ayr as four jockeys helped him bring up a 2,193-1 five-timer.
Conor O’Farrell struck first aboard Charm Offensive in the opener and the Sean Quinlan-ridden Ned Tanner quickly added a second for the stable in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle.
The promising Gaillimh A Stor, ridden by Danny McMenamin, comfortably made it three from three for Alexander in the 2m4½f novice hurdle and despite it looking unlikely throughout, Niceandeasy toughed it out under a strong O’Farrell ride to secure a fourth in the 3m handicap chasing.
Atlantic Dancer was discounted by the market at 14-1 in the concluding race, but Bruce Lynn punished his rivals with a masterful front-running ride in the colors of his father and brother, bringing Alexander’s tally to five winners from seven runners on the day .
Alexander said: “I’m a bit lost for words, it was a unique day, I couldn’t believe it when the last one won especially, it was a lucky day.
“My fantastic team at home do a lot of the hard work and the horses get looked after really well, they come out very healthy and I don’t do very much really!”

A first five-timer for the stable helped Alexander equal his best seasonal tally of 31 posted in 2015-16 and he added: “With a bit of luck, we’ll hopefully get another one on the board before the end of the season, there’s six weeks to go!
“We’ve got some nice horses coming through and hopefully we will keep turning out the winners – I’ll settle for any day where I have a winner.”
It could have been an even better day for Alexander as Final Reminder, a 6-1 chance in the 3m½f handicap hurdle, refused to race when looking to have live claims.
