Meghan and Harry’s early body language suggests ‘conflict’ in the way they deal with each other

Meghan Markle became the Duchess of Sussex when she married Prince Harry in May 2018. Both before and after their wedding, the couple attended various events and receptions on behalf of the royal family. When in London with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ahead of the Invictus Games in Sydney, Meghan and Harry’s visit attracted media attention and in a video clip posted on The Royal Family Channel on YouTube, the Prince is seen trying to capture the attention of your future bride. Judi watched the pair’s interaction and commented: “It’s interesting to see some early signs of a possible conflict of styles here in terms of their approach to royal behavior which Harry and Meghan seemed to resolve later.

“Meghan was new to the job but clearly interested in approaching it with her signature skills of authentic engagement.

“Meghan was new to the job but clearly interested in approaching it with her signature skills of authentic engagement.

“His chats with people when on royal visits and appearances always tended to come across as more in-depth, interested discussions than the usual timely small talk, while Harry seemed more attuned to the time constraints and cues of whoever’s work. It was to guide him.”

He continued: “For Harry, this ability to be guided would have been learned from a very young age, like a presenter learning to autocue, but here we can see Meghan deep in conversation and clearly missing the cues behind her.

“Harry seems impatient and the way he is inclined to call Meghan twice by name without the usual subtlety or social etiquette means he cuts her off mid-conversation.

“To add to this, he also makes an outstretched hand signal with his fingers folded to suggest he needs to move quickly.

“Meghan’s smile falls and she immediately complies and verbally apologizes in a way that is possibly a bit more submissive than her cues warrant.

“She touches Harry in a tie-sign gesture to indicate that she is now fully focused on him, but her small truncated pushing or shoving hand on his back seems to lack charm here,” Judi said.
