Pickles McButterpants the Muffin Slayer wins wackiest pet name competition

There is new royalty in Maine. The state’s own Pickles McButterpants the Muffin Slayer has been crowned by nationwide as the cat with the wackiest name. Those pets were whittled down to ten dogs and ten cats, who then faced a public vote. “Our Wacky Pet Names competition is a light-hearted way to recognize the thoughtfulness and creativity of pet parents,” said Heidi Sirota, chief pet officer for Nationwide. Pickles had stiff competition in his category, going against names like Boba Pett, Foo Foo Cuddly Poops and Linda from Human Resources. “I had seen an ad for a cat named Pickles and I thought it was an awesome name,” Pickles mother Kelli Hoover told Nationwide. “So, when I got a new kitten, I knew he would be Pickles, but it didn’t sound just right for him, so we added McButterpants to it. ‘t leave us alone. The Muffin Slayer, who goes by Pickles for short was chosen from Nationwide’s company database of over 1.1 million pets.

Those pets were whittled down to ten dogs and ten cats, who then faced a public vote.
