Rumors that Rebecca was returning to Channel Seven began circulating last month after she abruptly left Channel Nine in November.
At the time, it was said that he was ‘about to’ sign a deal with Seven, where he previously worked in various roles from 2002 to 2016.
His return home will likely coincide with a promotion to newscaster from Melbourne’s 6pm weekend news team alongside co-host Mike Amor, The Australian reported at the time.

The Maddern and Love pairing will match the ‘man-woman’ formula that has proven to be a hit for Seven News Sydney’s weekend news with Angela Cox and Michael Usher at the helm.
Maddern started working at Seven in 2002, as a news reporter on shows like Seven Afternoon News and Sunrise.
He left Seven in 2016 and immediately signed with Nine.
Maddern confirmed in late October that he had parted ways with Nine after nearly six years on the network.

“You just have to look at the main presenters and how long they have been in those roles, so my luck is not lost on me,” he added.
