A fat Russian cat, called Liznya The Cat, has come under fire after commentators claimed her owners were ‘cruel’ for overfeeding her

The cat’s owners hit back, saying the weight gain was an unforeseen problem after Liznya’s pregnancy
One person said, “It’s going to die any day now.”
While another asked, “Why did you let her get so big?”
A third commenter said: ‘Disgusting. Was it first forcing dogs to walk on their hind legs, now deliberately overfeeding your cat to morbid obesity? Humans, honestly.
Meanwhile, another person wrote: ‘Stop abusing animals you morons imagine feeding an animal almost killing it just to make it look cute you are sick.’

Commentators were quick to point out Liznya’s weight and concerns about overeating
The owner, keen to clear up the confusion surrounding the cat’s diet and routine, wrote an Instagram post that explained why Liznya had grown to such a large size.
Speaking of the trolled kitty, they said, “There are misunderstandings. So let’s clarify them. We never tried to overfeed Liznya.
“Some people wrote that we were doing it on purpose. How do you imagine that? She even refuses to eat any food other than her diet food.
“It’s true that our cat was pregnant and spayed afterwards, but we’re not claiming that’s the exact reason she became obese.”

The big cat has been to the vet since gaining weight and is now on a strict diet of 29 grams of Royal Canin cat food.
They further explained that Liznya’s pregnancy had exacerbated her weight gain and that she had made several visits to the vet since.
During his visits, the vet prescribed many diet cat foods until one started working.
They said: “She seems to have stopped gaining weight with her current plan, but there are still issues losing it.
“We can’t show her to a vet too often, but we will definitely do it again and again if needed.”
“We do not support any type of abuse and it is not acceptable to threaten landlords. And we also can’t ignore that some people mention that our cat was slimmer in 2020. It’s true, but she hasn’t gained much weight since, look at other old photos taken from a different angle to be sure .
“And yes, Liznya can walk, she even loves to play chase! We agree that she needs to be more active to lose weight.
“If some people still don’t believe the above, well, that’s your opinion, but please don’t spread false information and don’t wish the owners to die.” It’s kind of sad to read posts like this.
Later, in a highlighted Instagram Story dedicated to Liznya’s weight management, the owner was shown serving 29g of Royal Canin cat food for her pet’s meal.
