Dysart Dynamo clears last on path to Sky Bet Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle victory

The budding reputation of the undefeated Dysart Dynamo was not damaged with a very straightforward success in the Grade 2 Sky Bet Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle at Punchestown on Sunday.

Paul Townend’s mount, trained by Willie Mullins, established a five-length lead early and was never in serious danger, adding its name to an illustrious honor roll that includes former Closutton stars Vautour, Douvan and Min.

The six-year-old owned by Eleanor Manning jumped clean in the final and was in a different league to his six rivals, beating Gringo D’Aubrelle by 19 lengths.

Dysart Dynamo was reduced to the 4-1 favorite (from 13-2) with Paddy Power for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle, but the Sky Bet Supreme could be just as likely a target, for which he was shortened to 7-2 ( of 12) with the same company.

He was as big as 20-1 with bet365 for the Supreme on Sunday morning and they now make him 9-2 the third favorite.

Stablemate Sir Gerhard is a 6-1 best price for the Supreme with bets led by Constitution Hill and Jonbon trained by Nicky Henderson.

Townend said on Racing TV: “He was very good, we galloped well and he jumped brilliantly. It was an impressive performance.

“I let him use his stride because he covers a lot of ground. His stride is so big and he does it all comfortable – he’s very exciting.

“I thought it was a solid run before, there were a lot of reputations in there, so it was very addictive the way he did it.”

Dysart Dynamo won by the same margin on their Cork hurdles debut last month, following their stellar campaign last season when they struck at Clonmel on 2m2½f and at the Punchestown festival.

When asked if the Supreme or the Ballymore would be a more suitable target, Townend replied, “He’s got a lot of gears and he’s not slow, but there are options for him in the future. . Willie will place it where he sees best.”

Mullins was celebrating his eighth victory in the race, with other notable winners since the inauguration of the 2nd year in 2003, including Kicking King, Mikael D’Haguenet and Any Second Now.
